I saw Ryan Jarman at the most hipster venue I’ve ever been at. He played some of the Cribs songs I never thought I’d see live (like shoot the poets)
This was ridiculously fun last night, even though I was about to fall asleep against the wall at the end of Ryan’s set because it had been a long, hot, sunny day full of awesomeness.
Relevant, because it’s been in the mid 90s all this week in NYC, and I’m moving tomorrow.
GPOY first NYC haircut edition…
For the nearly two years I’ve been in NYC now, I’ve managed to continue getting my hair cut in Los Angeles when I visit in the summer and winter. Today I finally bit the bullet and got my first NYC haircut. I’m definitely ready for summer.
I’m headed to the airport at a stupid hour in the morning, and so I imagine I won’t be posting much for the next few months. I’ll try to make semi-regular updates to my travel tumblr during that time, though.

- Dark rum, probably by some distiller you’ve never heard of
- Powdered sugar
- Seltzer water
- Key lime juce
- Fresh spearmint
- Ice, from a tray. Not a machine. Or a bag. You pussy.
Take four (4) leaves of fresh spearmint and add them to a highball glass. Add one (1) heaping teaspoon of powdered sugar and cover with one (1) shot of fresh Key lime juice. Find something to mash it around with. You aren’t trying to pulverize. Simply mash to release the flavor of the spearmint.
Add three cubes of ice, two (2) shots of dark rum that doesn’t rhyme with “Brock Hardy” and two (2) shots of seltzer. Add in a new fresh sprig of spearmint to look cool. Stir gently. Drink. Beat the heat.
I think the mojito is my favorite drink.
