Girls - “Lust for Life”
Sometimes music feels like summer, and sometimes it literally (OK, not literally) oozes summer. This song is the latter. The uptempo, straightforward 60s-pop feel and less-than-perfect vocals take me back to being 17 in the dead of summer: it’s fun, it’s awkward, it’s simpler. This is the kind of music I’ve been reaching for more and more lately, and I’m loving every minute of it.
The San Francisco-based GIRLS will be releasing their full-length debut, coyly titled Album, September 22 on True Panther/Matador.
